This is a 3 days short rip to Uganda’s renowned oldest and largest Park situated in the northwestern region of the country and Ziwa Rhino sanctuary the only haven to white rhinos in Uganda. Murchison falls National Park hosts up to 76 mammal species as well as Uganda’s largest Nile crocodile population and more than 450 bird species most of which will be spotted. The Park also protects Murchison waterfalls which is the world’s renowned strongest waterfall and making a hike to its top is so wondrous and mesmerizing. Expect a visit to Ziwa rhino sanctuary to track white rhinos in their natural habitat and have up to an hour close to them go by their routine activities. This safari therefore covers the African Big Five land mammals starting with rhinos at Ziwa and the other four in Murchison falls National Park.

Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Pickup and transfer to Murchison falls N/P via Ziwa Rhino sanctuary – top of the falls hike.
Pick up is very early in the morning by the company representative and immediately hit the road for your trip to Murchison falls National Park with your first stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary which is about 172 kilometers away from the city. Upon arrival you will meet the ranger guide for a briefing highlighting the dos and don’ts of Rhino tracking after which you will get back into your vehicle for a short drive to the starting point of your trek. Seeing these giants in their natural habitat is a thrilling experience since one gets remarkably close to them within 10-15 meters and watching them for about an hour. Sign-out of the rhino sanctuary and embark on your drive to the Park with another stop in Masindi for your lunch before checking-in at the Park’s gates. Proceed with a drive to the Falls where you will make a hike to its top for a vintage view of the beautiful scenery as well as viewing the two waterfalls Uhuru and Murchison falls. You will as well experience the Nile River squeeze through a narrow gorge of about 7 meters wide and rapturing into violent falls into the devil’s cauldron about 43 meters below. Later proceed to your pre-arranged lodge to have dinner and an overnight.

Day 2: Morning game drive – afternoon boat cruise – evening game drive.
Arise as early as 6:00 am, have your breakfast packed and proceed for a wildlife viewing experience in the northern section of the Park to catch-up with the early risers of the jungle as well as some nocturnal animals rush back to their hideouts. Sightings will include herds of elephants, towers of giraffes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, hartebeests, kobs, oribis, warthogs and much more. Birders be excited to have up-close sightings of the Abyssinian ground hornbills, vultures, oxpeckers and several other birds. After a wildlife viewing experience of about 4 hours, get back to your lodge for lunch before catching a cruise to the bottom of the falls. The cruise lasts for approximately 2 hours while enjoying the Nile’s aquatic life such as large concentrations of hippopotamuses, crocodiles, water birds and others. Return to the lodge for a few minutes of relaxation before heading back to the savannahs for an evening game drive. Having spent some quality time in the wild, get back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Departure.
Wake up to a lazy breakfast after which you will meet your driver guide to be transferred back to Kampala or Entebbe with a stop in Nakasongola for your lunch. You will then embark on your drive traversing large fruit markets along the way which you ought to visit if interested. Arrival will be in the late afternoon to be dropped off at your place of residence around Kampala or Entebbe international airport for your outbound flight.
