10 DAYS UGANDA GORILLAS AND WILDLIFE SAFARI TOUR.

Tour overview.
Spend 10 days roaming Uganda’s prominent National Parks where you will have an opportunity to experience the country’s protected dense forests and savannah grasslands. National Parks to be visited include Murchison Falls National Park that hosts the world’s strongest water falls, Kibale National Park the primate capital of the world because its high concentration of primates, Queen Elizabeth National Park famous for its high biodiversity, unique ecosystems and a variety of wildlife species, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park a home to almost a half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population and Lake Mburo National Park that contains an extensive wetland area that harbors several mammal and bird species some of which are found nowhere else in the country. 

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Murchison falls National Park. 
Your driver guide will be waiting to receive you at the airport where he will brief you about your 10 days safari and immediately set off for Murchison Falls National Park in the far northwestern. You will have stopovers along the way for example at Ziwa rhino sanctuary if time allows and then proceed to Masindi town for your lunch. Ziwa rhino sanctuary is the only place in Uganda where one can spot the endangered white rhinos in their natural habitat. This involves tracking them on foot with the guidance of ranger guides and having encountered them, an hour is allowed as you closely observe them graze, wallow in the mud or even resting under shade when the temperatures are high. Arrival at your lodge in Murchison will be in the evening to check-in and refresh as you wait to have dinner and an overnight. 

Day 2: Morning game drive and a hike to the top of the falls.
Wakeup to a tasty breakfast and set out for a morning game drive in the northern section of the Park where you will have a glimpse into the country’s wildlife species. The thrill will be spotting lions on the hunt as grazers scatter to save their lives. Other animals to lookout for include giraffes, elephants, leopards, hippopotamuses, waterbucks, hartebeests, hyenas and many more. Having roamed the savannahs for about 4 hours, return to your lodge for lunch after which you will be driven to the falls where you will hike to its top. It’s magical seeing the Nile waters squeeze in a 7 meter narrow gorge and falling off from a cliff of about 43 meters high into the devil’s cauldron and then proceeding with its way into Lake Albert. Enjoy the showers and the rainbow before you return back to your lodge to have dinner and an overnight. 

Day 3: Morning boat cruise and transfer to Kibale National Park.
Today enjoy your breakfast and head out for a boat cruise along the Nile River waiting to encounter large schools of hippopotamuses submerged in the water. A lot of aquatic animals and bird species will be spotted since by this time the water is always undisturbed. This cruise takes you to the bottom of the Falls that will be seen at a distance as you capture animals along the River banks like elephants, waterbucks, crocodiles and several birds. Get back to your lodge for lunch after which you will checkout to be driven further in the west arriving at Kibale National Park in the evening. Check-in at your reserved lodge, have enough time to unwind as you wait to have dinner and an overnight. 

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and crater Lakes tour.
Get up so early for your hefty breakfast and report to the Park headquarters for a briefing about the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee trekking. Ranger guides will lead you into Kibale’s dense forests to locate a habituated troop of chimpanzees as you spot several other primates. Locating them may last between 2 to 4 hours after which an extra hour is allowed for you to closely watch them go by their routine activities. Get back to your lodge for lunch before heading out for a walk along the Park’s crater Lakes for example Lake Nyabikere, Nyinambuga and others. You will appreciate nature as you capture the scenic beauty of these lakes while several bird species roam the area while making ear-catching calls. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight. 
Day 5: Bigodi wetland hike and transfer to Queen Elizabeth N/P.
Arise today morning and return back to Kanyanchu visitors’ center where you will start off your nature walk in Bigodi wetland also known as the home of the great blue turaco. This is a 4.5 kilometer long walk that will take you through this important wildlife corridor of Kibale. This jungle swamp shelters over 200 bird species, 8 primate species and several mammals such as sitatungas, bushbucks and many more. This walk lasts between 3 to 4 hours after which you will get back to the lodge for your lunch and checkout to be driven further to Queen Elizabeth National Park with a stopover at the equator line for magical photography. Arriving in the evening, you will check-in at your reserved lodge, unwind ad relax a bit waiting to have dinner and an overnight. 

Day 6: Morning boat cruise and evening game drive.
Today morning, grab yourself a cup of coffee and head out for a preternatural boat cruise along the Kazinga channel. This water channel is a 32 kilometer long natural stretch of water that links two fresh water Lakes namely Edward and George. It is famously known for housing the largest concentration of hippopotamuses in Africa and attracting a variety of wildlife species such as buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, crocodiles basking along the shores and many more. The cruise lasts for about 2 to 3 hours after which you will return to your lodge and later in the evening hit the Park’s savannah plains for an evening game viewing experience.  Large concentrations of grazers will be spotted catching their last day’s meal as predators like lions, hyenas and many more find their way out of their hideouts to track down their prey. Get back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight. 
Day 7: Morning game drive and transfer to Bwindi. 
On this day enjoy your buffet breakfast and return to the Park’s savannah golden plains for a morning game viewing experience. Animals to lookout for here include buffaloes, elephants, topis, waterbucks, warthogs, spotted hyenas, side stripped jackals, oribis, leopards, lions, Uganda kobs and many more. The Park is also a haven for over 600 bird species some of which will be spotted during your game drive. Return to your lodge for lunch after which you will checkout to embark on a drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with an en-route stop in the Ishasha sector where you will clearly see tree climbing lions relax and chill up high in fig tree branches. Later proceed with your drive to the haven of gorillas arriving in the evening at your lodge for dinner and an overnight. 

Day 8: Gorilla trekking and Batwa community visit.
Arise for your breakfast and proceed to the Park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking etiquettes. You will be stunned by a group of cultural performers as registration is underway which will later be followed by allocation of gorilla families that you will go trekking after in the dense forests. With the guidance of ranger guides, trekking gorillas lasts for about 2 to 6 hours depending on their movements in search for food. An hour is allowed close to the gorillas as you clearly observe their social behaviors and interactions while you take enough flash-less photos before returning back to your lodge for lunch. In the evening you will visit the Batwa community for a cultural experience where you will learn about their traditions, how they survived in the forests and many more. Get back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight. 

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo N/P and an evening game drive.
Enjoy your breakfast and checkout to meet your driver guide for a scenic drive through meandering roads and rolling hills to Mbarara city and connect to Lake Mburo National Park Uganda’s smallest savannah Park known for its sculptured landscapes with rolling hills that date back 500 million years. Check-in at the lodge, have lunch and a relaxed afternoon as you wait to have an evening game drive looking out for animals like giraffes, zebras, elands, topis, impalas and many more. Get back to your lodge to have dinner and an overnight.  

Day 10: Walking safari and transfer back to Kampala.
Have your breakfast early in the morning and head out to Rwonyo tourism center to embark on your walking safari through the Park with the guidance of a ranger guide. Along your walking safari, you will be enriched with information regarding the existing wildlife, history of the Park and many others. You will appreciate the Park’s remarkable views ranging from its vegetation cover to its numerous Lakes. Several animals will be spotted like zebras, buffaloes, antelope species, giraffes, warthogs to mention but a few with a variety of bird species. Get back to your lodge for lunch and later checkout to be driven back to Kampala with a stopover at the equator line in Kayabwe for a photo session at the monument. Proceed with your drive arriving in the evening to be dropped off at a hotel of your choice in the city or to the airport for your outbound flight.
